Although the product name says Single Base, the official S218 is not a single-driver subwoofer. It is one subwoofer cabinet loaded with two 18-inch direct-radiating low-frequency drivers, giving it the air movement and bass weight expected from a large-format professional sub.
The S218 is designed for setups where small subs cannot deliver enough impact. It gives stronger kick drum, bass guitar, DJ playback, dancefloor energy, and low-frequency support for bigger rooms, outdoor events, and music-heavy sound systems.
Martin Audio designed the S218 to extend and increase the low-frequency output of large Blackline F12 and F15 systems. It can also work as the low-frequency section in bi-amped or tri-amped H2 and H3 systems when used with correct processing.
The S218 is a passive sub-bass cabinet and requires external amplification plus active crossover processing. Its official crossover point is 150Hz active, and it is intended to be used with compatible Martin Audio control or DSP processing rather than being connected directly as a full-range speaker.

The S218 is built from 320-litre multi-laminate birch plywood with a textured black finish, black perforated steel grille, cabinet handles, and four 4-inch castors. At 87kg, it is not a lightweight box; it needs proper transport planning, safe lifting, and enough crew support during setup.
The Martin Audio S218 Single Base is best used in larger PA systems, club installations, live events, DJ systems, venue sound, rental sound packages, bands, school halls, worship events, and setups that already use compatible Martin Audio Blackline loudspeakers.
This is a passive professional subwoofer cabinet, not a powered sub. It must be matched with a suitable amplifier and active crossover or DSP processing. The name Single Base should be understood as one S218 cabinet, not a single 18-inch version of the S218.
